Airstream: Style

From the time they first acquired their alluring aluminium shell, Airstreams have been a magnet for designers, architects and visionary owners to create interior spaces to suit their personal aspirations for colour, texture and utility.   In addition to architect Chris Deam, whom Airstream hired in 2001 to fashion a contemporary interior for its International trailer line, designer Ralph Lauren and others have put their touches on the insides of Airstreams.

Chris Deam's objective in creating the new interior was " to deliver on the promise of the exterior".  The first of the new line of Airstreams - the International CCD (the letters represented by Deam's initials) debuted in the USA in 2001.  By 2004 there were five CCD floorplans accounting for 40 percent of sales in the USA.

The success of the design-orientated CCD interior was undoubtedly the catalyst to the project to develop a European specification product range and work started in earnest in 2004.

Unsurprisingly a passion for design is a common bond between owners who are drawn to purchase and use the International CCD trailers and other new Airstream products that follow its internal design cues - including rounded corners, reflective materials, contrast of light and dark surfaces and strong accent colours.
